The continual effort put forth by Columbia River Safaris (CRS) to exercise innovative efforts that prevent and reduce the environmental impacts of our tourism operations has lead to a nomination for the Tourism BC Sustainability Award. Leading through example, our company is shaping the way tourism businesses operate in the community of Golden, BC.
One particular component of our business that is gaining recognition is our Pass It On! Program. The program, derived from our company's passion for sharing and conserving the Columbia River, was launched in 2006 in support of Wildsight, an environmental conservation group. Through our Pass It On! Program, guests can join us in helping to protect the Columbia River Wetlands simply by sharing their experience of one of our river adventures. At the end of each tour guests are presented with a voucher, which then "pass on" to other travelers. Those travelers redeem their voucher by turning it in when they join us on a safari. For every voucher that returns to us, we donate $5 to Wildsight to further their hard work on preserving the fragile Columbia Wetlands.
